Knights, engines and hats at Titirangi Primary School

Today I visited Titirangi Primary School courtesy of the NZ Book Council. I spoke to three large groups in the hall and got them making up poems. The children were fabulous poets. Years I and 2 did a version of my rainy day poem:

It started raining stars and pancakes
It started raining lollies and bananas
It started raining bubblegum and the moon

Years 5 and 6 came up with this:

Elephant

Rocky grey
elephant’s long nose swinging wildly
stomping like thunder
tough
fat flabby furious.

I also got to go to their fabulous book parade. I have posted a picture of the winners (they had categories such as heroes and villains, animals, fairy tales). Below that a photo of some teachers and one of the parade. It was a great day thanks!
