Poetry Bonanza Challenge: let your imagination somersault in the sky

Gosh, I feel like I am getting sick so I am tucked up with a book, mandarins and a hot drink. I am off to talk about poetry and read poems at the University this evening so need to get springing.

But! I have another holiday challenge for you. I got the idea looking out my window at the sky.
First try writing a poem that shows me what the sky looks like today. It might be short or it might be long. This is what I saw:

The Sky

The endless grey of the sky
has thumbprints of pink and blue.

Then try a writing a sky poem with something surprising in it. Use your imagination. Your poem might be short or it might be long,

The Sky

Out of the corner of my eye
I saw a bright red kite
flying towards me,
it’s string floating free.

Have fun young poets!
