My favourite poems that M o V e

Thanks for the poems that move. So many different ideas and moods and rhythms. I loved reading them all. There are so many ways to make words move in poems. I have to take screen shots if your poems are set out differently in case you are wondering.

If I didn’t pick you this time do try my challenge tomorrow.

I am sending a copy of The Letter Box Cat to Scarlett.

Emily sent me an poem that I couldn’t open and couldn’t reply to. If you read this – resend!

Pickle Cat

Pickle cat chases the mouse,

Pickle cat goes round the house.

Pickle cat sleeps all day,

Pickle cat wants to play!

Pickle cat starts to growl,

Pickle cat stops and meows.

Pickle cat goes round the corner,

Pickle cat hops in the sauna!

Pickle cat goes to bed,

as he counts the sheep above his head!

When the starting gun sounds

He races off like a bullet

He goes

Faster

And faster

And faster and faster

And faster and faster and faster

Mushrooms

Sitting in the dark sky

watching the stars

fade and appear

and the moon

move in a circle.

They sit there

and chat

until we come.

The mushrooms move

when we are not looking.

Ice

Sitting, frozen upon the jars and tins,

A little cube of ice,

Chattering, frozen, always cold,

Between his friends in the mould.

What is happening to the poor thing?

Oh no, it’s out in the sun,

Careful, or it will melt!

Slowly changing form,

Ready to start life again.

These days it’s different,

It’s not ice,

It something else that is quite nice,

It now sits in a jug, gurgling,

It is… water!
